Ministro Gilberto Gil. Foto: DivulgaçãoPopular culture and economic solidarity are the principal themes of “Teia” (Web) - the Brazilian Cultural Network, launched April 5 by Minister of Culture Gilberto Gil with much festive celebration.

The event, which runs to April 9, unites thousands of representatives of Brazilian popular culture, organizers of cultural events and entrepreneurs in fair commerce. The event takes place in the city of São Paulo at the Biennial Pavillion, the Museum of Modern Art, Museum of Contemporary Art and at the Vila Mariana SESC in the city’s south end.

Besides Minister Gilberto Gil, singer and composer Jorge Mautner - who participated recently in Navegar’s Belém-Abaetetuba Expedition - is one of the big stars of TEIA. As one of the speakers at the event’s opening, Mautner spoke to an audience of thousands about his experience on board Navegar Amazonia, and narrated his article, “The boat of poetry”.

At Navegar Amazonia’s stand, videos and fotos about the project are on display. The creators of the project, Beto Lacerda and Jorge Bodanzky are on hand to greet visitors at the stand, together with Otizete Alencar.
