The Indigenous People’s Memorial at the Ver-o-Rio Complex in Belém was transformed into a cultural melting-pot last Sunday (March 5) with a show promoted by Navegar Amazonia that brought together on stage talents such as Jorge Mautner, Nelson Jacobina, Amapá’s Zé Miguel and Pará’s own Master Verequete. The coordenators of Navegar Amazonia, Jorge Bodanzky and Beto Lacerda, made a brief presentation of the project before the festivities began.

The 3 hour event began with an invocation by Pai Luiz Tayandô to the indigenous and African gods, asking for their protection and blessings of the cultural event Navegar Amazonia’s Belem-Abaetetuba Expedition. This was followed by the young Puyr Tembé, in a ritual of song and dance, representing the indigenous peoples of Amazônia.
